El Tony & Puerto Mate: merch with a real caffeine kick
The starting point
intelligentfood Schweiz AG in Rotkreuz is the company behind the cult drinks you find at the coolest festivals, at top universities and in hip bars: El Tony Mate and Puerto Mate. The merch naturally has to be just as iconic as the drinks: high quality, one of a kind and with plenty of cult potential. The many events of El Tony Mate and Puerto Mate set the pace for the merch deliveries, at the tempo a growing brand simply has. That calls for a partner with a similar energy level who keeps up (Twing, that is 😉).
Our approach
We built a fixed product base that works for El Tony Mate and Puerto Mate alike: socks, jute bags, microfibre towels and bath towels. We send the quote and the design together, so that approval is possible in one step. For the 2026 towel that took exactly one day. And delivery is on time, so that the El Tony Mate and Puerto Mate teams never have to go without their cool merch.
The result
Since August 2024, 9 projects have come together this way, around 2300 finished items for both brands. The collaboration now runs without a long lead time: enquiry, quote with design, approval, delivery before the event.
Barter instead of a classic invoice
Not every product is paid for in francs. For the towel for summer 2026, part of the bill was settled differently: we delivered the towels, El Tony delivered mate. A barter deal in which both sides went home with their hands full.
Merch that makes it into an influencer story
Good merch does not end at the event. The Twing x Puerto Mate socks were not produced for a single occasion only, they are worn afterwards too. During sport, for example, as one of Switzerland’s best-known influencers did when he wore the socks in his Instagram story.
