Cleaning a drinking bottle: It’s that easy!

Help my water bottle stinks! You’ve probably felt thirsty at the smell of your water bottle. But don’t worry – we’ll tell you three simple household tricks to clean your water bottle perfectly and get rid of that nasty smell in no time at all:

No matter what drinks you use your water bottle for, you should make sure to clean it regularly. Because already stale water can cause an unpleasant odor. In particular, beverages with a strong taste of their own, such as coffee or tea, but also sugary sweet drinks or milk, can leave a foul odor or even mold in the drinking bottle.

This cannot always be washed out again with hot water and soap. For this reason, we’ll tell you here three household tricks that you can use to clean your stainless steel bottle easily and quickly and bring it back to shape.

1. sour makes clean

Acidic liquids have a germicidal effect and can also be used to clean your water bottle.

Acidic liquids such as vinegar or lemon juice have a germicidal effect and loosen impurities from the surface. Simply mix the vinegar or lemon juice concentrate with hot water and leave the mixture in your drinking bottle overnight. To prevent the unpleasant smell from giving way to a sour aftertaste, it’s best to rinse the stainless steel bottle thoroughly with soap several times the next morning!

2. baking soda drives away bacteria

Baking soda and baking powder are proven home remedies and a real cleaning all-rounder!

Baking powder not only makes a good figure in airy pastries, but is also suitable in the fight against malodorous bacteria. By the way, the same applies to baking soda! Simply add one to two packets of baking soda or baking powder to your water bottle and fill it with hot water. Then wait an hour or two until the powder mixture has had a chance to take effect. Be sure to leave the lid open! At the end, all you have to do is rinse your bottle thoroughly and it’s ready to go again!

3. dishwashing detergent fights mold

For intensive cleaning of your drinking bottle, you can simply leave regular dishwashing detergent on for a few hours.

Dishwashing detergent not only works perfectly in your washing machine, you can also use it to intensively clean your water bottle against mold. Just add hot water and dishwashing powder to your water bottle and let it sit for an hour or two, then scrub it all down with a sponge or brush! Be sure to rinse your water bottle thoroughly with water at the end.

Unpleasant odors can occur regardless of the material of your water bottle. Nevertheless, high-quality processed bottles made of metal, such as aluminum or stainless steel, can have a preventive effect.

When buying, you should also make sure that the water bottle is easy to clean. Stainless steel bottles with a generous opening and smooth surface are particularly easy to clean.

Twing tip: rinse drinking bottle briefly every day and let dry

In principle, stainless steel bottles do not belong in the dishwasher. However, if necessary, one or two rinses are possible with our Twing Eco drinking bottles thanks to their top quality.

Nevertheless, if you rinse your stainless steel bottle briefly with hot water every day and allow it to dry, you will not run the risk of unpleasant odors or even mold developing. In addition, every six months we recommend cleaning with one of the three points described above.

With a regular cleaning of your stainless steel bottle you can prevent unpleasant odors and mold.

So, now you are well prepared for the fight against unpleasant odors and certainly thirsty! Cheers!
